Gordon,

Yes I know, just looking desperately for some tiny glimmer of light to be going with.
As fate would have it, our doctor of 25 yrs just retired last month also, not seen the new guy yet.
She`s not seen any eye consultants for 3 years either & her Rheumatology consultants administration department is running over a month late with backlogs, she was seen there end of FEB, only thing we have at this stage is 2-3 years opticians examinations, work definitely cut out with this one.

Hi Gordon,

Using the guide to PIP on B&W it states.

Legal definitions

Remember, listed above, there are some legal definitions of terms that appear in many activities,
like ‘unaided’, ‘prompting’, ‘supervision’ and ‘assistance’. But there are also some important
definitions relevant to this activity.
The regulations (in italics) state that:
“Read” includes read signs, symbols and words but does not include reading Braille.
“Basic written information” means signs, symbols and dates written or printed standard size text
in your native language.
“Complex written information” means more than one sentence of written or printed standard size
text in your native language.

Guidance for health professionals gives the following examples:
An example of simple information would be a green exit sign on a door in a public building.
An example of complex information: “Your home may be at risk if you do not keep up repayments
on your mortgage or any other debt secured on it. Subject to terms and conditions.”
....................................................................................
That helps to clarify the situation Re - PIP, obviously there are some people registered blind who could read standard size print if they held it close enough, it could be argued however that doing so reliably - repeatedly etc could put undue strain onto the claimants vision.

Hi,

Is there a requirement to tick every box on the PIP form?
Did`nt need to when filling in ESA form 3 yrs ago, wondered if things were different with the PIP form?

Another question:

Currently have my wife`s medication records available at home from 2003 - 2013,
though none from 2013 -16 as such, just her most recent repeat medications at March 2016.

Visited doctors - hospitals last week while on holiday from work trying to get her last 3 years info together re - letters etc but notice the past 3 yrs medications are not included.

Are these most recent medication records essential to her claim?

There's no requirement for you to use the tick boxes if you do not feel that they accurately represent the way that your conditions limit your ability to complete an activity, but you must still answer the question in the comments box or any attached pages.

Just cross out the tick boxes and state that you have answered below or in the attached as required.

Been putting off the phone call to initiate PIP1,

Not sure if I am getting to grips with the whole process at all?

Example - DWP may penalise claimants in 2017 who claim points for using aids.

Example - DM`s - Assessors - may argue that aids could be used to complete certain activities - where they are not used.

Trying to run between hospitals - Doctors - Consultants atm for info - attempting to get my wife`s claim form in some sort of order, whilst working full time.
Hope those who passed legislation to take folks off lifetime awards off ICB & DLA are well pleased with themselves.
They are not only putting undue stress on disabled people in the UK but their loved ones & carers also on whom they depend on for support.
