"Invited" to Apply for PIP

Hi

I suppose I am more fortunate than many members, the assessment centre is only a shortish taxi ride away in the town centre so it won't cost me too much. I know Capita can refund the fares but don't you have to get their permission first? I can't face talking to them to be honest. I would rather just pay the taxi myself, they can make assumptions about that if they like

If I do manage to get the GP to fax over a letter what happens then please, will Capita contact me again to offer a new appointment or will I need to speak to them about a home visit?

Incidentally on the letter I received there was nothing about taking medication with me, I did provide a repeat prescription list with my form. I was rather surprised by this omission.

I would chase them the day after your GP faxes the letter, if it is after the 29th then be careful not to be talked into arranging a new appointment while you are on the phone, your are entitled to seven days written notification.

If they haven't asked you to take your medication then you don't need to, although I would probably take a recent repeat prescription, even though one was included with your form.

Hi

Thank you Gordon, jus a quick question I spoke to one of the gp's this morning who has agreed to write a letter asking for a home assessment for me.

I couldn't find the fax number for Capita anywhere so my husband will have to collect the letter for me in Friday. What shall I do now? Post it to them? Or do you have the fax number available please. I looked on all the documentation I have and online but no luck.

Hi Gordon

I had emailed Capita on Monday asking about a home assessment, they called me this morning (even though I told them I can't speak on the phone and could they contact me via letter) and they have cancelled the appointment on 29th April and offered me a home assessment on 5th May instead which is great, so still very nervous and anxious but at least I can stay at home when I am being interrogated :cheer: .

I was surprised it was as easy as that.

Get your husband to ring Capita for the fax number.

Glad to hear it was sorted.
